LEAP turned me into an intelligent and athletic young woman. LEAP can transform you from a C+ student to an A+ student. It is fun and educational and the counselors are great. They keep us safe and when you are down, they always find a way to make you smile.

Summer Program
During the summer, the LEAP day runs from early morning to late afternoon. The day begins with counselors picking children up at their homes and walking to site (a neighrborhood school) together. After a site-wide morning meeting the camp day begins with academic enrichment activities focusing on literacy and mathematics. After site-provided lunch kids engage in group activities meant to foster teamwork, cooperation, leadership and creativity. These activities include time in the LEAP Computer Learning Center, our aquatics program, martial arts classes, arts and crafts, athletics, dance, African Drumming, counselor-led field trips, and community service projects. The whole City is our campground, as kids explore local museums, art galleries, parks and other places. The day ends with a closing circle in which each group gathers to reflect on the day and prepare for the coming day. After the closing circle each child is walked home by his or her counselors. Each LEAP group will also take an overnight camping trip with their counselors.
