    Full-Time Positions Available Positions Deputy Director of Programs LEAP (Leadership, Education, and Athletics in Partnership) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Deputy Director of Programs to join our Programs team. This full-time, salaried position offers opportunities for growth and leadership within a dynamic organization committed to empowering youth in underserved communities. The Deputy Director of Programs serves as the key assistant to the Director of Programs (DP), closely aligning with the DP’s role and fostering a productive working relationship. Responsibilities include supporting the management and implementation of the Programs Department, which encompasses the Children’s Program, Youth Development Program, and Aquatics Program. Key duties include but are not limited to supporting the management of programming, grant reporting, record keeping, staff development, and material distribution. The role demands strong organizational and administrative skills, along with effective communication with LEAP staff, external partners, and participants' families. Success is gauged by the Deputy Director's efficiency in handling tasks for the DP and the overall performance of the program team.   • Summer Children's Program | LEAP New Haven

    Summer Children's Program LEAP's summer program includes literacy, athletics, arts, computer science, cooking, and gardening. Children also go on field trips around New Haven and camping trips. All programs are overseen by an experienced Site Coordinator with trained counselor pairs drawn from local colleges and high schools. LEAP's summer program is free for participants. what who LEAP's summer children's program is available for children ages 7 to 12 who live in one of our five neighborhoods (what matters is where the child lives, not where he or she goes to school): Dixwell Newhallville Fair Haven The Hill Dwight-Kensington (including West River) Quinnipiac Meadows The program operates Monday - Thursday from 8:30 AM - 4 PM, Friday from 8:30 AM - 1 PM. LEAP operates in seven neighborhoods at these locations: Betsy Ross Arts Magnet School Family Academy of Multilingual Exploration King-Robinson Inter-District Magnet School LEAP Office on 31 Jefferson St. Lincoln-Bassett Community School Augusta Lewis Troup School Ross Woodward School when & where Summer Program 2024 Mandatory parent meeting dates will occur in June for accepted families only. The time and location will be disclosed to accepted parents. Required summer documents for full acceptance into LEAP's Program: 1.   • Volunteer | LEAP New Haven

    Internships & Volunteers The following is a list of possible internship or volunteer opportunities at LEAP throughout the year. Due to COVID-19, we currently have limited volunteer opportunities. Site Tutors and/or Assistants: Work directly with the Children’s Program by assisting counselors on site with homework help, reading activities, educational activities and field trips for LEAP children. Community Center Tutors and/or Assistants: Work within the LEAP Community Center on various projects including (but not limited to) after-school and summer program assistance. Building, Facilities and Administrative Assistants: Work within the LEAP Community Center on projects related to facilities maintenance, administrative support, and clerical support, etc. LIT and JC Tutors: Work directly with the Youth Development Program by tutoring our Leaders-in-Training (ages 13-15) and Junior Counselors (ages 16+ in high school) in various academic topics including math, science English, Foreign Languages, SAT preparation, etc. Minimum: 1 hour a week for a full semester. Between 7 and 14 weeks, depending on the semester. Workshop Facilitators: Teach a weekly afternoon enrichment activity or workshop (known at LEAP as “resources”) for LEAP program participants in areas such as music, dance, arts and crafts, athletics, or another area of expertise. Alternatively, teach a one-time or series of professional development workshops for LEAP staff and board members. Minimum: 1 hour a week for a full semester. Between 7 and 14 weeks, depending on the semester. LCLC Teaching Assistants: Teach computer science, coding, programming, and digital media arts skills to children and teenagers in the LEAP Computer Learning Center (LCLC). Library Assistants: Support LEAP’s librarian in organizing and cataloguing our library of over 3,000 books, which counselors use for literacy-based lessons and activities with LEAP participants. Development Assistants: Support fundraising campaigns, help plan events, write publications, create marketing materials and put together grant proposals in the Development Department. Finance Assistants: Assist with payroll and accounting tasks as well as perform clerical work in the Finance Department. One-Time Event Volunteers: Support LEAP as a one-time volunteer at one of our many community and/or fundraising events throughout the year.     Julia's Run April 28, 2024 Julia's Run for Children celebrates the legacy of Julia Rusinek and embraces the ideals for which she lived. Julia was a student at Yale College, and she dedicated her summers and her free time to working with or on behalf of underprivileged children. Join us on Sunday, April 28 at 9:30am in New Haven's historic Edgewood Park for the in-person return of this beloved run! The proceeds of this event will support all of LEAP's future programming. With the recent opening of Q House, our LEAP kids are busy learning and building community together. Run with us to support their growth and achievements! The 5k timed run, two mile untimed walk, and free Kids Fun Run courses will stay within the beautiful and historic Edgewood Park. The 5k distance is computer timed, which you can run or walk.     LEAP Year Event Becoming a Sponsor LEAP Year Event is our annual fundraiser when the community comes together to make LEAP's free programs for youth from low-income neighborhoods possible. This year our event takes place on February 23rd, 2023 . Last year, our in-person * and virtual options were so successful that we will have both in-person and virtual options available again this year! In-person dinner locations span between NYC to New Haven; virtually, travel to Jordan! To keep the tradition alive and support our local businesses, there will be a dinner option available for virtual guests. A different notable Guest of Honor joins each dinner party, providing a special theme for each gathering. Guests of Honor are academics, authors, artists, activists, performers, elected officials, media personalities, journalists, and a range of other talented individuals who lead a conversation on a topic of their expertise. UPDATE: The reception will now take place virtually at 6:30 pm on Thursday 2/23. The link to the live streamed reception will be sent to ticket holders.     New Hire Information Welcome to LEAP! We are so excited you're joining us! Please see the following resources below for new hire required trainings and forms to complete prior to beginning your work with LEAP. Forms Instructions: Please fill out the Federal W-4 Form, I-9 form, and the CT W-4 form to let us know how to handle your taxes and to show the federal government that you can work in the United States. Please sign and print out these completed three forms and bring them with you to LEAP on your first day. If you do not have access to a printer, you can print these forms at LEAP and fill them out on your first day. You can also email signed and completed pdfs of the forms to payroll@leapforkids.org. Please DO NOT send your tax forms to the counselor development team. 1 Direct Depo sit Form LEAP pays everyone by direct deposit, so you will need a bank account and we need your account information. If you do not have a bank account, please open one. If you do not know how to do so, we are happy to explain. Please email the finance office at payroll@leapforkids.org or the counselor development office at froman@leapforkids.org with any questions. You will need to set up a direct deposit through your bank account or set up a bank account if you do not already have one. Please note, that we do not ac cept Cash App or any online banking apps. ADP only recognizes actual banks. We need an electronic routing number. A routing number is a nine-digit code used by banks to identify other financial institutions. You can find your electronic routing number and your account number by logging into your online banking or by calling your bank. You r account number is not the same as your card number. You have the option to split your direct deposit between yo ur checking and savings account. It can be split 50/50, 70/30, or 20/80; however, you want but it must add up to 100%. 2 Federal W -4 Form The federal W-4 form is used to compute federal income tax. Please find the federal W-4 form here . 3 I-9 The federal government requires that you provide certain documents to prove you can work. On page 3 of the I-9 form is a list of required documents. Due to the rules of the I-9 Form, the Finance Department is required to physically inspect ID's. Please come with your ID's to the office. Please review this list and bring the required documents with you on the first day. Please find the I-9 form here . 4 CT W-4 Form The CT W-4 form is used to compute state income tax. Trainings Sexual Harassment and Mandated Reporter Training We are required to provide staff and interns with Sexual Harassment and Mandated Reporting Trainings in accordance with Connecticut. The state has imposed inclusive mandatory training. Since COVID, these resources are now available online from the state of Connecticut in the form of videos and questions and answers developed by the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities. In total, both courses are about 3 hours to complete. At the end, you will be emailed a certificate of completing the Sexual Harassment. Please have this email to the Finance Department at payroll@leapforkids.org . If you are experiencing any trouble or have any questions, feel free to email payroll@leapforkids.org .
